Overview

Magna Kearns Youth Court is a restorative justice program serving as an alternative to the traditional Juvenile Justice system. The Magna Kearns Youth Court is certified by the Utah Youth Court Association under the Utah Youth Court Diversion Act. Its purpose is to provide early intervention and targeted services while at the same time holding the youth accountable for their actions. The Magna Kearns Youth Court provides prosocial opportunities to strengthen ties with school, community, and positive peer role models and repair harm caused by the offense.

The Youth Court Coordinator plays a vital role in fostering a positive and engaging environment for young individuals. This position involves planning, implementing, and overseeing youth programs and activities that promote personal growth, teamwork, and community involvement. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and a passion for working with youth, ensuring that all programs are safe, inclusive, and enjoyable.

 

Responsibilities

  • Understand the Utah Youth Court Diversion Act, a Utah State Statute governing Utah State Youth Courts
  • Coordinate schedules, activities, and events for youth participants.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and program outcomes.
  • Provide administrative support including data entry, file management, and word processing tasks.
  • Conduct research to identify new program opportunities and best practices in youth engagement.
  • Serve as a point of contact for parents, guardians, and community members.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions to enhance the skills of youth participants and interns.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and organizational policies during all activities.
  • Foster a welcoming environment through excellent customer service and effective communication.
  • Work in collaboration and as a team with current and future stakeholders.

 

Skills

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in administrative functions such as data entry and word processing.
  • Experience in customer service to effectively engage with youth participants and their families.
  • Ability to conduct research to support program development initiatives.
  • Familiarity with legal administrative processes can be beneficial in managing program compliance.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with diverse teams including youth, parents, and community stakeholders.
  • Have no convictions of serious or person (example domestic violence) crimes and comply with background check requirements.
  • Spanish speaking is a plus but not required.
